The text is about the image below that paragraph.
It’s been a few years since I played this, but it’s regularly for sale on Steam, so if you’re into history themed games and are considering this one, you might be interested in my annoying detail obsessed perspective.

So it’s Battlefield game, you do a lot of running and shooting.
Seeing the airship go down alone was worth the price of admission.
Besides that it’s absolute chaos and brutality, which is good:

his house has an attic but no access to it, no stairs, no ladder, no hatch.
A pet peeve of mine!
The weapons are all a bit silly, not quite fitting for the setting.
But it’s a great game, I’m having tons of fun:

Oh by the way developers, if you make an online war game please add the Surrender option.
I keep looking for it when I’m surrounded and so few games have it.
Imagine being in yet another online war game and suddenly you’re forced to deal with prisoners, it adds so much.
For a second I thought Townsend was voice-acted by my favourite actor Robert Carlyle, but it’s Mark Bonnar who is also absolutely splendid.
Wonderful acting all around:

I once thought about writing a film that a very long intro, a soldier, you see his childhood, family, school, first love, war breaks out, training, making new friends… then gets killed in first battle.
The end.
I loved completely demolishing this little village way too much.
I remember as a kid fantasising about a war game where buildings could actually be destroyed and now that’s possible.
You kids don’t know how lucky you are, in my time all we had were cubes to play tennis with!

I had to blow up that house with the flag, for morale.
Take that Fritz.
Having actually had family members fighting in the German army during WW1 makes shooting every Heinz, Karl and Gunther I see a bit weird.
Sorry family, has to be done, for King and country:

One thing I don’t like about this game is the lack of gore & drama.
Not (just) because I’m a sicko but because war is hell.
People are blown to bits, I think a game should make you feel uncomfortable, feel bad about what you’ve done when a soldier cries for his mutti, etc.
For me realism is everything, even in games.
I want to feel like I’m in this world, full immersion!
So I’m relieved but also annoyed when my plane gets shot but I can just magically repair it in mid-flight or that I somehow never really run out of ammo.
The game looks amazing:

God I love airships.
I’m going to hate destroying them:

I am so sorry:

Ok this is all getting very silly but goodness me it’s fun and just gorgeous to look at:

I’m going to Gallipoli next.
I’ll keep an eye out for colliding bullets:

Oh no, they’ve given me a kid to look after, he’s such a dork, I love him already:

Another great chapter, no spoilers, but Mr, Bishop is a top bloke.
Saving last chapter till tomorrow.
I’m loving the game, but going to finish it within 10 hours and that’s not a lot of gameplay for 40 euros.
But its an insane amount of gameplay for 10 euros, yay sale!
Back in the game, this time in the desert, not my cup of tea but at least I now get to play a woman.
Just spotted this mistake, which is absolutely inexcusable.
There is music coming from this gramophone but the record is not spinning…
That’s what you get when young folks who don’t even remember gramophone players making games 😉

Sneak into this camp?
Nah, I’ll just steal a armoured vehicle and GTA this place:

Oh no… nooo… nooooooo I blew up some ancient ruins!!

Ok so I finished the game, conclusion time.
I thought it was fantastic, stunning scenes, breathtaking combat, some amazing characters, some not so much, generally good storylines.
I liked the setup of the game; you get to experience several different lives during WW2.
Different locations, interesting missions, etc.
The weapons are stupid, clearly just added for fun, not authenticity.
And I do feel that if I had paid the full price for the game that I’d have felt something was lacking.
The game is over, but I want a bit more.
I know, we’re spoiled, but after playing Red Dead Redemption, something with just a couple of levels and 10 hours of playing time isn’t that much.
Anyway, of course a big part of this game is the multiplayer experience, I will try that later.
Either way, if on sale, a must-buy!
